About this property

Welcome to Armstrong Hillcrest Cabins

Armstrong Hillcrest Cabins offer a rustic lodging experience nestled within the scenic area of Waskesiu Lake, Saskatchewan, close to the heart of Prince Albert National Park. The property features simple, cabin-style accommodations that provide a spacious and practical setting for families and visitors looking to explore the surrounding wilderness. Guests appreciate the proximity to local shops, a playground for children, and a short walk to the lake, making it a convenient base for both relaxation and outdoor activities.

The cabins at this hotel are known for their clean and roomy interiors, although they lean towards a more dated and rustic style. Essential kitchen facilities are available, but some guests have noted limited cookware, so bringing additional items might be advisable for longer stays. Facilities include daily housekeeping and free Wi-Fi, which can be spotty at times. While air conditioning is not provided, the forested setting and lake breezes help keep temperatures moderate during warmer months.

Service is friendly and accommodating, with a kid-friendly environment mentioned as a key amenity. Outdoor enthusiasts can take advantage of the nearby trails for hiking and biking, and the park offers various nature activities year-round. Wildlife sightings such as elk are common near the cabins, contributing to the natural ambiance. The property's location is practical for visitors aiming to experience the park as it sits close to other accommodations, restaurants, and recreational options within the lakeside townsite.

Guest reviews suggest the cabins are well-suited for those seeking a peaceful retreat with easy access to outdoor adventures rather than for travelers desiring modern or luxury comforts. The mix of convenience, natural surroundings, and basic amenities makes Armstrong Hillcrest Cabins a practical choice for families and nature-focused visitors, although prospective guests should be prepared for a rustic experience and plan accordingly.

It's everything you need when having a cabin experience. It's roomy enough for a family, has all the essentials one needs for an extended stay. Located in the town site, short walk to the lake, very close to stores and the playground for kids.

July 2021. We have an "A" cabin. Bring your own fans in the summer. Very hot. And bring cooking pans/sheets, there is only one medium sized frying pan and few pots which is not enough for myself and 2 kids. Water temp in the shower is hard to regulate. Otherwise great.

It's the perfect place to disconnect from city bustles, offers tranquility walk, bike paths right on the beach and great views of nature including wildlife. Absolutely recommend this place, nestled within Prince Albert National Park. Horse trailer, canoe options for sight seeing available. We loved it and the children love a playpark right on the beach!!

Stayed here 1 week. Cabins are nicely located a short walk from beach and stores. The cabin was clean and tidy. Beds were comfortable. Built in the ‘40 s I believe, they are on the rustic side but contained a new fridge and stove and all the kitchen utensils needed. Staff was friendly and very helpful and patient with our inquiries during the planning process. Wifi available but is spotty recommend you have a data plan. No AC which we were fine with. If you want AC go stay at a hotel. The deck had a picnic table and chairs. We could have used a BBQ, even a communal one would have been used. But we managed. Cabins are nestled in the pines with elk wandering through during dusk. I would certainly recommend Armstrong Hillcrest Cabins.

The cabins were spacious and clean. There was housekeeping daily. Most everything you need it provided. Nice BBQ on the deck. Lots of wildlife. We had Elk walk through a few times. Free wifi, ours was spotty at times. Nice walk to the restaurants and shops as well as the beach and lake. I enjoyed the stay.

I have stayed here every year for several. It’s clean and close to beach. Enjoyed my stay. It’s not first rate by any means ,but rustic and warm. The only one problem I had was when I cancelled two months prior to my booking. Very rude response was told I would be charged next time. Regardless of this I love the cabins and I believed the lady was having a stressful day because I have never had that response before

Have been coming here for years and management is always good. Be sure to book well in advance as demand is high. There are a number of different cabins from single room with toilet outside to multiple rooms with fireplace and full bathrooms in suite. Towel exchange has a longer time allotment then other establishments on site. Cabins are mostly outdated, but, always comfortable. Currently, Hillcrest is for sale so hopefully new management will follow suit of the current management.
